Created by artist, Geoff Broadway, LifeCycle is a multi-screen audio-visual that explores ideas of change and transformation experienced by a range of people who live and work in the Coalville area of Leicestershire.
“The piece is based on my journey through Coalville from December 2010 through to spring of this year, recording conversations with a wide range of people, and capturing visual impressions of both people and place, said Geoff.
“The film is a dynamic convergence of images and thoughts that invites reflection around some of the key themes that make up our cultural life: what values shall we hold and nurture; what can be treasured and preserved; what needs to come to an end; and what is at the heart of our own community.”
LifeCycle is one of seven major works commissioned by Snibston Discovery Museums’ Transform project.
“The Transform project is changing the image of Snibston through the interpretative works of nationally renowned artists, inspired by museum collections and historical sites. The project seeks to offer new ways of exploring Leicestershire's fascinating history and to get people actively involved in the creative process,” added Geoff.
