THE PHOENIX CHILDREN’S FOUNDATION BRINGS ITS BEAUTIFUL SHETLAND PONIES TO THE BELVOIR SHOPPING CENTRE! - 25 Sep 13

Leicestershire-based The Phoenix Children’s Foundation will be bringing their adorable miniature Shetland ponies to The Belvoir Shopping Centre on Friday 27th September, from 10am to 2pm, to help raise awareness and funds for the charity.

The Foundation currently has ten ponies that travel the country with their carers helping to spread happiness and bring a smile to the faces of the disabled and ill children they visit. They also help with the charity’s fundraising and visitors to the Belvoir Shopping Centre will be able to meet, greet and pet a few of these cheeky characters.

Established in 2006, the aim of the Foundation is to provide disabled and seriously ill children with the vital equipment they and their carers need on a daily basis, but also to give them unforgettable experiences. The charity organises pleasure flights, as well as supporting Riding for the Disabled Association, helping to build children’s confidence and giving them a sense of independence, as well as creating treasured memories.

“Over the past 12 years the Foundation has helped numerous children but there are still many more children and families that need our support,” explains Doug Smith, The Phoenix Children’s Foundation spokesperson.

“As a registered charity we rely greatly on donations, as well as the time our dedicated volunteers give, and we hope our visit to the Belvoir Centre with our mini ponies will help raise awareness of our work and encourage people to give either their money or time, both of which are invaluable to us,” adds Doug.

“The Phoenix Children’s Foundation does a fantastic job around Leicestershire, as well as the rest of the country, and we are more than happy to support them as they raise funds and awareness for this worthwhile charity,” comments a spokesperson from The Belvoir Shopping Centre.
