The Belvoir Shopping Centre is welcoming members of the Birstall branch of the RAF Association who will be reaching out to members of the local community in a fundraising drive that commemorates the bravery and often ultimate sacrifices made by members of the Royal Air Force.
The RAF Association provides help and support for any members of the RAF family who need it. Collections will be held at the Belvoir Shopping Centre on the 14th and 15th September 2012.
To support this work, fundraising events for the RAF Association Wings Appeal take place throughout the year, but especially during the two weeks leading up to the anniversary of the Battle of Britain on September 15.
The heroic pilots who fought in the Battle of Britain were called “The Few”, after Winston Churchill’s famous speech and it is the descendants of these brave men and women that demonstrate the same commitment and bravery by risking their lives on a daily basis in theatres such as Afghanistan.
The RAF Association’s Director of Fundraising Michael Bolton, said: ““I am deeply grateful for the fantastic support we receive from the people of Leicestershire whose generosity will help us to continue to provide support for any members of the RAF Family who are in need.”
