LOROS VISITS THE BELVOIR CENTRE TO HELP RAISE AWARENESS OF CHARITY

The LOROS (Hospice Care for Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland) Lottery will be visiting the Belvoir Shopping Centre in Coalville on Wednesday 26th June to raise awareness of the charity and encourage locals to support their local hospice by joining their weekly LOROS Lottery.

Visitors can come and meet their local LOROS Lottery promoter, who will be at the Centre from 9am till 5pm to tell shoppers about their Lottery and how to enrol. Information on LOROS, a charity which aims to enhance the quality of life of adults with cancer, progressive neurological conditions and end stage organ failure, will also be available together with a donation pot for those loose pennies you may wish to donate.

By joining the LOROS Lottery, participants will not only be supporting a local charity but will also be in with a chance of winning the 2,000 jackpot each week, along with over 50 other smaller prizes.

“LOROS relies on the goodwill of local communities and businesses to raise the 4.5 million it needs every year to run the charity, which is why initiatives such as our Lottery are vital,” explains Jane Taylor, lottery development coordinator.

“The Lottery itself helps to raise the equivalent of the annual cost of 20 full-time nurses, who are essential to the service we provide. By coming to the Belvoir Centre we hope to raise money, but more importantly awareness of our work,” adds Jane.

All of these services are provided free to patients and their families at a cost of 7.5 million each year.
A grant from the NHS of approx one third is received, which leaves a minimum of 4.5 million annually for LOROS to raise. The Charity relies on the support of the local community and businesses in order to raise this vital 4.5 million of funds.
