Shoppers at the Belvoir Shopping Centre have once again shown their generosity by helping to raise nearly £2,000 for the crisis in the Philippines.
The collection, organised by the Rotary Club of Coalville, raised £1813.64 in just six hours. The money will be used to purchase three emergency shelter boxes which will be shipped to help the victims of the recent typhoon.
A spokesperson on behalf of the Belvoir Shopping Centre comments: “It’s fantastic that so much money was raised, particularly in such a short period of time. It really says a lot about the people of Coalville; the response from the public was quite staggering.
&ldquo“What has happened in the Philippines is truly awful so we really hope that the donations collected here at the Belvoir Centre will help make a difference.”
