08 December 2014 - Christmas will be in full swing at the Belvoir Shopping Centre on Saturday 13 December. Santa and his sleigh will be visiting the centre from 10am until 4pm to spread Christmas cheer among the children and shoppers of Coalville. Santa’s sleigh is once again being organised by the Coalville Rotary Club who raise funds for local causes such as the Coalville hospital. Rotarians will be collecting donations at the centre to help ensure that local children are not disappointed on Christmas morning. Club secretary, Roger McDermott, had a message for the people of Coalville: “The Coalville Rotary Club is eternally grateful to the people of Coalville and surrounding areas for their ongoing generosity for those less fortunate. If any member of the public would like to learn more about the club then come along on the 13th. We look forward to meeting many of you on the day and wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and prosperous new year!” Community spirit will not end there. Volunteers from the New Life Church on Margaret Street will also be at the centre on Saturday 13 December from 10am until 3pm offering free gift wrapping. This will be the ninth year that the Church has offered this to the people of Coalville. All paper, bows and ribbon will be provided completely free of charge so if you need a hand with all your Christmas wrapping, head to the Belvoir Centre! Tim Maycock, senior leader of the New Life Church, commented: “We like to offer this free service to the local community to extend good will at this time of year. Christmas is the time we remember the coming of Jesus to shine a light in the darkness. Through wrapping presents we hope to bless people at Christmas and shine a light of hope in Coalville.” The gift wrappers will also be at the centre on Saturday 20th December.
