05 February 2015 – This Valentine’s Day (February 14th) miniature Shetland ponies from Leicestershire-based charity, the Phoenix Children’s Foundation, will once again be returning to the Belvoir Shopping Centre.Established in 2006, the Phoenix Children’s Foundation provides disabled and seriously ill children with the vital equipment that they need on a daily basis, and also gives them unforgettable experiences. The ponies are now regular visitors at the Belvoir Shopping Centre, having last visited in April 2014 when nearly £530 was raised in just a few hours. This visit will be extra special as the Foundation is returning to say “thank you” to the public and the Coalville branch of Lloyds Bank, as the charity was awarded £3,000 as part of the Lloyds Community Fund 2014. This money has been used to enhance facilities at the charities’ HQ to help facilitate the education with animals for children with special needs and disabilities. Melissa Wright, from the Phoenix Children’s Foundation, commented: “In the past the people of Coalville have been incredibly generous and coming back to the centre is a day we always look forward to! Without the support of the public we would not be able to supply these children with the life changing equipment, therapies and opportunities that they need. It’s great to be able to come back and say thank you!” Shoppers will be able to meet, greet and pet a few of these cheeky characters to help raise money for the local charity from 10am.
